Yoga and
meditation which goes hand in hand together were invented in India just a few
millennia before there was yoga trend in western countries like America,
European countries. As yoga is gift of Indian sadhus (sages) to entire world,
it is obvious for you to select India as destination for spiritual
enlightenment that strives to heal mind, body and spirit. Indian yoga is like
universe in itself. It is more basic and detail in morals and steps. All Indian
yoga steps and asanas are originally inherited from pure yogic life that’s why
they are more powerful than other types of fashionable yoga.
The
spiritual city-“Rishikesh” is known as the Yoga capital of Hindustan (India).
To experience this historic spirituality, I traveled to Rishikesh, India, in
early March this year. It was an ideal opportunity to overlook the full
spectrum of growing yoga community over the globe. Finally, I reached the
earth’s heaven and there were many swamis and yoginis practicing on the bank of
river ganges. I interviewed many Indian and western yoga tutors on my visit and
got really outstanding fact about yoga that is- “You do yoga, yoga does you.”
By practicing yoga many people have found essence of their true life and gained
access to wisdom and institution for daily routine.
Only
entrance to such atmosphere built a positive view towards my own health
concerns and I too started practicing Indian yoga. Day I started practice
itself was filled with positive change in my life and I was feeling like my
brain is formatted like a hard-disk. I was enjoying the teachings of Indian
yoga swamis. It was really fabulous way teaching focused on each and every
aspects of each turn and moves in yoga. So after every yoga session I started
search about origin of yoga and found that very dawn of civilization gave birth
to yoga. Lord Shiva also called Mahadeva in Hindu religion is assumed to be
first man in universe to practice yoga. Lord Shiva further passed on this
knowledge to seven sages called “Saptarshi”. This profound knowledge was
introduced to different parts of world by these sages and yoga became an
integral part of life cycle. Vedas, Upanishadas, Epics and Puranas provide
literature regarding yoga practices and its development.
Swamis
told that if mankind will know few basic facts about yoga, they will always
remain healthy. He said-“In recent years, mental stress and physical weakness
has been root of all unhealthiest. All diseases can be completely cured only
with combined effect of yoga and meditation. Medicines available to relief
stress will only effect only for a day or week but its side effects will surely
ruin your remaining health also. There are many diseases such as cancer, AIDS
which are not curable by medicines but effects with combination of yoga can
cure them surely. But you must keep in mind- any change is not easy to adapt in
life and so is the yoga. So do not give up doing yoga only after a week or few
days, its fruition is peerless.”
In my
visit to Rishikesh, I heard about modern yoga teachers who are spreading yoga
all over world without any self profit. I really started studying about them
and described those eloquent, incomparable personalities for you.
